We are a team of women who long for the glory of God in the local church. We are passionate about theology and passionate to see women grow and learn and study like the New Testament Bereans.
Addie K. Miller was scripturally born again by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone in 1985. She immediately followed in believer’s baptism and marriage to her singer/songwriter/music minister husband Prentiss Miller in March of the same year. Prior to biblical salvation, Addie, in her limited understanding, intellectually acknowledged the existence of the triune Godhead; Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit measured in light of the teachings, traditions and rituals of the religion of her Cajun culture, the Roman Catholic Church. Addie’s initial reading of the Bible set in motion a journey of countless hours of seminary courses, reading vast numbers of topic related books, as well as, intense investigation and research, of not only the religion of her childhood, but of many other religious belief systems and movements in the U.S and around the world. At the most opportune moment, she was blessed to have fellow sisters in Christ having the same zeal for biblical truth as she did come along side which in time brought to fruition the Discerning the Drift Teaching Ministry.
Always a “good” girl, raised in a nice family in a pervasively Catholic community in south central Louisiana, faithfully attending church and catechism classes as was required of her, genuinely aspiring to go to Heaven one day to be with the triune God she most reverently feared. She reasoned that her odds were as good as many (and better than most) of attaining that lofty goal, despite haunting questions of if she was being/doing good enough. Sadly, despite the best of intentions, she was lost in that she did not know the real truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the standard of perfection required by God. That is, until she went away to college, and by God’s providence, befriended individuals of other religious backgrounds who shared from His word that her righteousness is as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). The Holy Spirit prepared her heart to receive and act upon the “good news”, she fully recognizing her hopeless state of having an inherited sin nature (“original sin” that she’d been taught was washed away by infant baptism) and being personally responsible before God to confess her sin, repent thereof, and ask to receive Christ’s imputed righteousness and be her Savior and Lord. Years later while still gainfully employed, she felt a calling to retire and serve God in some sort of ministry. Her Christian husband of 30+ years supported her decision to quit work, and in God’s perfect timing, Discerning the Drift Teaching Ministry came into existence and found her.
